Odor description: resin-ambergris, sweet, incense, herbal and floral nuances
Cistus absolute, like essence, is obtained from leaves and stems. As in the case of absolutes – with the use of a special solvent extraction.
Its fragrance profile is more similar to labdanum absolute than to the essence mentioned above. It smells rich, quite heavy and sweet, with a hint of herbs and flowers. Perfect for all kinds of chypre, incense, wood or heavy oriental accords.
NOTE: Labdanum and Cistus are words related to the same plant, i.e. Labdanus purge (Latin cistus ladaniferus). Cistus is for products obtained from leaves and stems, while labdanum is for products made of gum-resin *.
* gum-resin – a plastic substance obtained by drying the milk juice of some plants
